Role and Importance of Google Algorithms For Website Evaluation

When we search for a wealth of information on the internet by using relevant keywords, the answer is not the numerous web pages but to get you exactly what you have asked for. Therefore, Google to become strict it uses Algorithms. These are nothing but numerical instructions that inform computers how to complete allotted assignments precisely. Over the years it has become more intricate as Google tries to bring the users the high-quality information exactly what they are looking for.

How Does Google Algorithms Work?
In the beginning, Google uses spider, a program to keep a few webpage features like titles, page text, hyper-links, etc to its personal record. The spider then visits the hyper-links on this page which is followed by other links.

The whole process involves the following steps:

  • In the beginning, the Algorithms search for clues for better knowledge and perception.
  • On the basis of the clues, relevant documents are pulled from the Index.
  • Then the results are given ranks by using more than 200 factors.
  • At the search lab, results are analyzed and experiments are done to run them repeatedly.
  • In case of spam, manual action is taken and other doubtful attributes are checked. Spam removal is automatic.
  • The web owners are informed about the latest developments.
  • Then, it is up to the site owners to rectify their problems and resubmit the site.

Types of Google Algorithm

Panda Algorithm
Panda aims to bring high-quality sites in front of the searchers. Introduced on Feb 23, 2011 it assesses the quality of the content that brings substantial value to the site. It detects overlapping, obsolete, low-quality, thin and duplicated content to make the information in the site reliable. It also deals with spelling, stylistic, or factual mistakes. Websites those who are involved in these malpractices are penalized by Google and undergo drastic ranking fluctuations. However if the webmasters of the penalized sites manage to fix these quality issues, they can get back their website ranking, traffic as well as Google’s trust.

Penguin Algorithm to Identify Quality Issues
Launched on April 24 2012, Penguin algorithm detects unnatural backlinks and search engine spam (such as keyword stuffing, copying of copyrighted content, spamdexing and Black Hat SEO) to enhance user experience in a major way. Spams render a website ineffective by making it low-quality and therefore with Penguin algorithm Google attempts to identify this as well. Till now there have been five updates of penguin algorithm and the latest was rolled out by Google in the year 2014.

Humming Bird Algorithm
Google rolled on Humming Bird algorithm on September 26, 2013. The objective of this algorithm is to understand the query of the users and bring the information accordingly.

Pigeon Algorithm
It provides more valuable, appropriate and precise local search results (SERP). Introduced on July 24, 2014 it provides accurate, fresh information in front of the users and at their fingertips.

Phantom Algorithm
With more and more site owners witnessing a decline in traffic in their website, Google decided to launch Phantom Algorithm. It detects bad content, technical issues, less user-friendly design and more.

How to Deal with Google Algorithms?
Being a webmaster, if you want your website to skyrocket the ranking on Google, however dealing with the quality issues is the best idea.

For Humming Bird
The solution lies in generating content that answers people’s inquiries instead of just going for rank for a specific keyword.

For Penguin
The solution lies in identifying unnatural links and removing them from the site. If you cannot get rid of the links, just ask Google not to reckon it with the aid of disavow tool.

For Panda
Fix quality issues by removing overlapping, obsolete, low-quality, thin and duplicated content and replace them with fresh content. After that, Panda will take a new look at every site on the web and decide whether it is a good-quality website or not.

For Phantom
Make your layouts and designs navigable and user friendly. Do not allow your site become dominated by ads.

Remember that it’s only high-quality sites that get all the accolades, ranking and traffic. Ensure that your website too is flawless in terms of content and links so that Google Algorithms poses no threat.
